Educating Young Engineers (EYE) was a senior project designed with the general thesis that high school should not be a student’s first exposure to engineering activities. Sara Willner-Giwerc thought that assembling a program for elementary students would not only excite and encourage younger learners but also motivate them to pursue engineering as young adults. Giving elementary students exposure to problem solving activities and allowing them the space to think like inventors, EYE has been a way that Saratoga Springs has been able to instill, educate, and inspire a passion for not just what an engineer does, but how an engineer thinks.
