This is a depressing story of corruption in DOE that buried citizen paid for research at NREL because it "might" reduce #coal use. We are deeply damaged by this #fossil industry censorship happening not just at DOE, but sadly at our top research institutions as well like MIT.
Let us hope the next round of Leaders will somehow permanently end the Censorship of Science that was undertaken for the good of mankind and the advance of our economy, especially when that censorship is solely based on who ceases to profit because their technology is old and fast becoming obsolete.
Altho the Seams study is not published, three presentations about it are available: https://www.nrel.gov/analysis/seams.html; results from “Interconnection Seams Study,” presented at Energy Systems Integration Group spring meeting, March 2018, and at Iowa State Transgrid-X Symposium, July 2018, https://iastate.box.com/s/vfgn9nikl1rz7r8x0vaoauzpm2210t35 ; Also presented at https://cigre-usnc.org/wpcontent/ uploads/2017/10/3-Interconnection-Seams-Study-Update-101817-CIGRE-GOTF.pdf
NREL still has a web page on the Seams study. The lead investigator's email address is there if you want to send encouragement. https://www.nrel.gov/analysis/seams.html
