It's shocking and profoundly reflects the impact of climate change on our lives. Areas in Asheville that were once considered high ground are now struggling to withstand the impacts of extreme weather. Climate change is not just a distant threat; it is eroding our reality.
We finally got power after 11 days but many of our neighbors won't get power for a week still. Running water is a distant future thought -- you cannot imagine how challenging it is to have to bucket all water!! Going to have some very serious talks with the city after this is over about water system contingency plans -- they thought burying a line deeper in an alluvial river basin at the bottom of a ravine would make it safe which was and is a joke when the economy of a whole region is being put at risk.
Climate Change is REAL and everyone should be taking it very seriously ... especially MIT if it is to remain a "Leader" which it should be!
