This conclusion from the paper/report essentially says that H2 cannot be used without CCS in parallel, essentially making it economically useless for decarbonization: “If used nearly leak-free, hydrogen is an excellent option. Otherwise, hydrogen should only be a temporary step in the energy transition, or it must be used in tandem with carbon-removal steps [elsewhere] to counter its warming effects.” This seems like a real blow to the whole H2 movement ... time to realize that electrification is the solution and we must simply forget "burning fuel".
