Thanks for the insight on the video recording. I think lighting is really important. A light ring is really good as a primary source of light. For my setup, I use a desk lamp that is faced away from me, but reflecting onto a white sheet of paper. This gives me some soft fill light. I will try to use some of these insights for my next video.

I cover what is in my background (boxes) with a curtain or it is too ugly. I also have desklamp and 2 room lights to get better lighting. It is a good tip to have head high enough. Good examples re lighting and looking down or to one side and not making eye contact.
