Our leaders especially political leaders don't measure well. We are seeing the most dangerous politics across the world. Politics of dominance and suppression. Politicians think when they are voted into power have all the power to do all they want without the approval and empathy of the ones who put them in power on the one hand. On the other hand, we see a bigger size of the electorate simply worshipping political leaders. So we have the most dangerous politics especially geopolitics

For how long do you think this is happening? Did we reach the summit ? or is the worse to come? I think we live in very dangerous times. On the other hand we have big challenges ahead and if we overcome this, we can make this a better world. We need to invent a new form of governance to address our own existential risk.

We need to to reflect on the statement by Confucius which can be a guide for better governance. Democracy often deteriorates into an elected autocracy where power is abused to benefit a few rather than the majority. Few elected leaders today enter the public service domain to improve the lives of average citizens. Some are driven by the greed for power and money and are unwilling to relinquish power when the electorate turns against them. For democracy to flourish, the electorate must demand good governance from leaders and be willing to hold them accountable for failing to perform.
