Welcome to the MIT Bootcamps Open channel! We created this space to share with our community what is currently inspiring us in the world of entrepreneurship (and beyond) and to stay engaged with our community. While our team may currently reside in the greater Boston area, we are committed to nurturing our community's human potential from all over the globe.

Comment on this post and tell us where you’re from, what is currently inspiring you, and something you're passionate about.

I'll go first! My name is Mariah - I am from  a tiny town in Washington state called White Salmon. I am currently reading Between the World and Me and I am inspired by Ta-Nehisi Coates - his writing is powerful and making me think critically about what change I can enact in my life to move our world forward more equitably. Lastly, my friend and I started a weekly newsletter to our friends and family, focused on reflecting on the current state of our world in a sometimes funny, sometimes serious manner.

Again, welcome to MIT Bootcamps. We are so happy you're here and excited to learn more about you.

You can visit our website bootcamp.mit.edu to find out more about our programs. Before posting, please read the community guidelines for MIT Open.

Hey everyone, this is Rafaella Mazza.

I'm from Brazil and participated on the 8th bootcamp, in Rio de Janeiro! #MICROPHONE

I'm an agronomist passionate about finance, modeling and impact business strategy on the sector.

I've just began to read Nassim Taleb, it is a bit dense and contains a lot of criticism, but I feel like I'm learning something new!

This is the third month of working from home due to the quarantine, Brazil is going through a lot right now: becoming the new epicenter while politicians go full wild mode.

Thank you for creating this channel. After our meet up in SP last year, I really missed a place for us all to connect - and now we have it!

I am learning indoor gardening with plants that clean the air. Apparently NASA has done some research on different types of such plants and I can feel the difference.

Where are you moving to by the way

I am just moving from one home in Boston to another. This one will be a little bit larger with some outdoor space - hence the garden. It's always great to be able to feel the difference of what you're doing. What plants are you growing?

Hi All! This is Valeria Rodriguez from 2019 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Bootcamp in #Brisvegas, Australia. I'm from Mexico and during quarantine I've doing some home-brewing! My background is in Biotechn Engineering and interestingly, during university I did some fermentation processes in the laboratory but never really produced a beer! Which is the most basic and old application of biotechnology.
I've also been attending online conferences that normally I wouldn't be able to, regarding molecular biology and venture capital. So it has been really interesting to see research and applications for COVID from all over the world. Do you have any recommendations for conferences, webpages, youtube channels?

While this is in the context of Indian Investors, the VC who invested in my previous company where I was a co-founder, runs a series called MATRIX MOMENTS on youtube. Simple VC talk about real life scenarios.

Hi Valeria!

MIT is running a series of hackathon/challenges re: COVID: https://covid19challenge.mit.edu/. The next one actually focuses on LatAm.

And I know Harvard Medical School has had a bunch of seminars re: COVID as well.

Finally, so many MIT (and I'm sure other universities) events have been moved online and are freely available. Check out what's going on at MIT here: https://calendar.mit.edu/

Hi Valeria! WOW! That is awesome, how many batches have you made? I have a friend here who recently took up home-brewing and he has gifted us with a few IPAs... They've been delicious, although a bit 'earthy', especially his first few. Do you have any online conferences/channels that you would recommend?

Hey everyone!

Jaffly here, medical doctor but aspiring entrepreneur in health-tech/digital health/sustainability.

I was part of the Healthcare Innovation Bootcamp in 2019 - such a great learning experience!

I'm currently working as part of the COVID response (front-line rather than tech however), but am really keen to work with anyone on an idea that will change the world.

On the sustainability front, I am actually working on an idea that helps SMEs monitor and reduce their carbon impact and really keen to talk to anyone interested in this area!

See you all around :)

I am an IT Consultant (Salesforce to be specific) and a hustler. Hi Prottoy, nice to e-meet you! I loved reading Bowerman and the Men of Oregon (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/164230.Bowerman_and_the_Men_of_Oregon) but I have not yet read Shoe Dog. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, I have very fond memories around Eugene and Nike as a brand and as the epicenter of sportswear (and more, of course).

Hi all,

I'm Pascal, originally from Germany but am living in Australia since about 1,5 years with an entrepreneur visa. I've participated in the Brisbane Bootcamp in early 2019.

I'm inspired by the beauty of our planet and people who're genuinely positive and helping others, by couples who're living happily together and seeing how they're interacting and serving each other. But most of all, by people who follow their dreams and create the life they desire, be it as a baker, facility manager, entrepreneur or a career in a large corporate environment - as long as people are true to themselves, are who they really are and enjoy what they're doing.

I'm passionate about healthy food, outdoor activities, mindfulness, helping others, psychedelics as treatment, cooking, travelling, learning about other cultures, building teams and team dynamics and collaboration on a global scale.

After having a massive impact on our business due to the current crisis, I'm aiming for a radical pivot and building a new team for it. With the pivot, we're helping startups to go to market quicker with their tech product for less money and help them to build their tech team in-house after hitting the market and when they're ready to bring on board the first developers.

Cheers, Pascal
