These are decent recommendations. I used to work for MOTU, a Pro Audio company here in Cambridge. They have a partnership with Samson and I believe still promote some of their products. I've used the GoMic before and the audio quality is not great. If your budget is only $50, I'd recommend the Blue Snowball ICE:

https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Snowball-Condenser-Microphone-Cardioid/dp/B014PYGTUQ/ref=pd_sbs_267_t_0/141-3954484-9435266?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B014PYGTUQ&pd_rd_r=e11ad4ee-eb00-417a-ae0b-2806978ffcc4&pd_rd_w=RuruY&pd_rd_wg=wX3XU&pf_rd_p=5cfcfe89-300f-47d2-b1ad-a4e27203a02a&pf_rd_r=5DZ14S2Q7FSR46J33NK2&psc=1&refRID=5DZ14S2Q7FSR46J33NK2

Any of these mics that straight up plug in with USB will be fairly easy to use, as they all use what's called the "class compliant audio driver." This means that the drivers for them are all the same and are built in to Windows, macOS and Linux. You don't need to install anything and they're all plug & play.

All of this being said, these mics are all what you'd call "large diaphragm condenser" mics. They are more sensitive than "dynamic" microphones like the Shure SM58, but still won't sound great unless you are talking directly into it. The moral of the story is that with speech, you get the best sound by talking directly into the microphone with it a few inches away from your face. Large diaphragm condensers work great if you're sitting down and don't need to walk around, and dynamic vocal mics are handheld so if you can hold the mic up to your face those will work for you. For folks that need to walk around and have the use of your hands, you'll need a headset or lavalier mic.

There are plenty of cheap USB headsets out there that you can buy. Anything in the $20-$40 range is going to use that same class compliant USB audio driver, very similar internals and is going to sound not great / average. If you need a headset, I'd actually recommend the ModMic:

This mic can be attached to any existing headphones you have and turn them into a headset. You plug in your headphones just like you normally would, and then the ModMic goes in a USB port and you select that as your recording device. There's even a wireless version for a bit more money:

Great recommendation for Elaine Mello:

If anyone's doing recording, I'd recommend a Plantronics USB headset. Isolates room noise, is comfortable and won't pick up any ambient noise in the room. Its not expensive, especially if your department needs to buy multiple ones, easy to use and produces good audio. We have a lot of faculty who use and like these. https://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-205204-02-Blackwire-C225-Headset/dp/B01BUAT3L0/ref=sxin_0_ac_d_pm?ac_md=2-0-VW5kZXIgJDUw-ac_d_pm&cv_ct_cx=plantronics+usb+headset&keywords=plantronics+usb+headset&pd_rd_i=B01BUAT3L0&pd_rd_r=f2f7aea5-c0f7-4881-ab9e-3bf60ffaa3a9&pd_rd_w=Btzqn&pd_rd_wg=3DfO5&pf_rd_p=0e223c60-bcf8-4663-98f3-da892fbd4372&pf_rd_r=APQ430N6XM7V7RBBAYV7&psc=1&qid=1584014027

For those of you who are interested in webcams, the Logitech C615 can go up to 1080p (for 30 fps), but drops down to 720p once you hit 60 fps (all major video calls like skype, facetime, etc.). If you will be moving around a lot AND doing detailed work, you want to use your webcam to capture work on a white/blackboard, I would recommend the higher-end model, Logitech C920S which has 1080p for everything.
